What are Block Screens?

Everyone is motivated differently. That's why Opal gives its Gems the ability to customize the type of Block Screen messages they will see within the iOS version of the app.

What are Block Screens?

Block screens are the screens that Opal shows you when you try to access an app that is being actively blocked on your iPhone. They are reminders that you don't actually need to access a given app.

What type of Block Screens are there on iOS?

There are several types of block screens:

  • Default: This App is Blocked by Opal
  • Pop Culture: Find funny pop culture references when you open a distracting app.
  • Focus Haiku: Find little pieces of wisdom every time you open a distracting app.
  • Luminaries: Discover inspirational quotes from influential thinkers to help you accomplish your potential.
  • AI Personalities: Choose from Brutal Insults, Jane Austen, Dad jokes, Offline Ideas, and several more influential luminaries!

How do I customise my Block Screens on the iOS version of the app?

You can customise your Block Screens via your "Settings." To access them, please:

  • Open the Opal app
  • Tap on your "Profile tab"
  • Tap on "Settings" (accessible from the top right corner of the "Profile" tab)
  • Tap on "Customize Block Screen"
  • Toggle the Block Screens you prefer on or off

Why can't I customise my Block Screens on the Mac App or the Android version of the app?

We're currently working on achieving feature parity for the Block Screen experience on the Mac App and the Android version of the app. Stay tuned on that front!

That's It! If You Have Any Issues With Your Block Screens, let us know!
