Here is a step by step guide to set up Opal, install the apps, use calendar, set up shortcut automations and more.
Facebook/Instagram take up to 5 full minutes to fully disconnect (because they actively try to avoid detection to keep you connected at all times), After 5 minutes the app should tell you if you’re offline if you try to load new content, however cached content will still show.
We do have a way to block Facebook/Instagram immediately, however, it requires a bit of additional setup (2 minutes). Once you set it up, you don’t need to touch it again and it works like magic.
Here is how to do it:
- in the Opal app, go to Settings (top right corner button)
- scroll down and select the ‘Block with Shortcuts’ option. If you don't see this option, please first update the Opal app from the App Store.
- follow the step-by-step text instructions and/or the video tutorial. You will need to go back and forth between the Opal app and the Apple "Shortcuts" app which is natively installed on your phone.

We would love take your request to add an app/website to our list. We love hearing from all our gems. If you would like to see an app or website added to our list, please open your settings in Opal, go to distracting apps, and press the button at the bottom called "+ Request an App" where you will be able to submit a new request.
Unfortunately, due to iPhone limitations, Opal is not able to block all notifications. We recommend you set your iPhone to Do Not Disturb while in session.Read more: ⛔Can Opal block notifications? (iOS)
To cancel your Opal subscription, you'll have to cancel it directly on the App Store. Here are the steps to follow: ✖️How can I cancel my subscription?
