How to cancel my subscription

There are two ways to cancel your subscription, depending on how you signed up.

If you signed up in the Opal mobile app, you can cancel it directly on the App Store. If you signed up on Opalโ€™s website, you can cancel it from the link in the subscription email you received.

NOTE: Uninstalling the Opal app from your device will NOT automatically cancel your subscription! Please follow the appropriate steps to avoid any unwanted charges.

We're sorry that Opal did not work out for you, but we want to make sure it's easy to you to leave! If you are experiencing any bugs or otherwise confusing behaviour from Opal, please contact the Support team using the contact options in the Opal app, and we'll help you sort out the issue!

Cancelling an App Store subscription

Here are the steps to cancel your Opal iOS subscription:

  1. Open your iPhone settings
  2. Tap on your name
  3. Tap Subscription
  4. Tap Opal from the list
  5. Tap Cancel My Subscription

That's it!

Please note that it may take up to a day for Apple to process cancellations. Please note: Opal does not have control over subscription cancellations, they are handled through Apple directly.

Refund Information

Opal does not collect your credit card information when you purchase through the App Store, so we are unable to provide refunds. If you feel as though you need a refund, please contact the App Store directly to request one.


Cancelling a Web (Stripe) subscription

When purchasing from Web, your subscription is managed by Stripe and not Apple, so you can no longer modify it from your iPhone settings.

Go to Stripe Dashboard

Here are a few detailed steps to help you control your membership.

1. Find the email you used to redeem Opal subscription from web.

- Open Opal app

- Go to Profile

- Tap on settings

- Under Account, tap on โ€œEmailโ€

- You will see your email thatโ€™s currently being used. Tap on copy to copy it to the clipboard.

Important note: only this email will work for the next step. For example if you used Sign in with Apple with โ€œHide my emailโ€ option, you need to use the private relay email provided by Apple.

2. Sign in to Stripe Dashboard

- Open the stripe dashboard here

- Input the email that you used to purchase your subscription

- You should now receive and email from Stripe. Click on the link to verify it.

3. Manage your subscription

Once in the stripe dashboard tap on cancel plan to cancel your trial or active subscription.

That's it!


How to find your Sign In with Apple Email (Private Relay) if you deleted Opal app

On Your iPhone or IPad:

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap your name to view your Apple ID settings.
  2. Tap Password & Security.
  3. Tap Apps Using Your Apple ID.
  4. Tap Opal
  5. The Apple Relay Email will be displayed under This App Received:.

On The Web:

  1. Sign in to
  2. Go to the Security section. Under Sign in with Apple, select Manage apps & websites.
  3. Select Manage.
  4. Click Opal
  5. The Sign in with Apple settings will be summarized in this window. You will see your Relay Email under "Hide My Email".
