Private Browsing on Safari Is disabled

If you notice that Private Browsing is being blocked via Safari when you're using Opal, please note that it's intended behavior! This occurs in a variety of situations, including:

  • If you are currently in a Session with an Appย Group that contains at least one blocked domain: If you're currently in a Session with a blocked domain within it, we disable Private Browsing so you are unable to bypass our restrictions and access the site(s) you've blocked via Private Browsing. Additionally, you will be unable to tap the"Clear History and Website Data" button in your Safari Settings while in those Sessions. This will occur regardless of if you have "Adult Blocking" toggled to the on or off position.
  • If you are using a Whitelist: If you utilize our Whitelist feature, all Private Browsing and Adult Content will be blocked automatically, even if your specified browser is not blocked.

If you absolutely must access private browsing, you will need to end your Session, App Lock, or App Limit.

That's it! If you are not currently in a Session or Whitelist and Private Browsing continues to be blocked, please let us know!
