What is Focus Report?

Opal’s "Focus Report" is a valuable resource for measuring your Focus, tracking progress over time, and comparing your own progress with community benchmarks. While screen time can feel very abstract, our "Focus Report" delivers insights to you in a relatable way on both our iOS app and our Android app.

"Focus Reports" are currently only available on the iPhone and iPad version of the Opal; the Mac App does not yet have a Focus Report. Please also note that it's not currently possible to combine cross-device screen time usage into a single "Focus Report" as your data is stored locally on each of your devices due to privacy reasons explained here.

How do I access my "Focus Report" on the iPhone and iPad version of Opal?

To check out your "Focus Report" on your iPhone or iPad, take the following steps:

  • Open the Opal app
  • Head to the "Profile" tab
  • Scroll down and tap "Open" below the Focus Report you'd like to see
  • Tap on the screen to see insights on your Screen Time

What data is represented within the iOS version of my "Focus Report"?

Once you click "Open" on the Focus Report you'd like to see, you will view the following data:

  • The daily average time spent on your phone and the percentage of your day awake spent on your phone
  • How your Screen Time that week compares to when you installed Opal
  • Your most productive day and your most distracted day of the week
  • How many years you would spend looking at your phone before installing Opal
  • How many years you have reclaimed since installing Opal
  • Your average improvement compared to your peers

How do I change the daily screen time that I inputted on iOS when I signed up for Opal?

If you'd like to update the average daily screen time that you inputted when you signed up to the iOS version of Opal, follow these steps:

  • Open the Opal app
  • Tap the "Profile" tab
  • Scroll down and tap "Open" below any Focus Report
  • Tap the screen once
  • Tap "Edit Initial Screen Time"
  • Make your Selection
  • Tap "Continue"

That's it! Your future Focus Reports on iOS will now reflect your updated screen time statistics and benchmark your progress to the new standard.

How do I access my "Focus Report" on the Android app?

To check out your "Focus Report" on your Android device, take the following steps:

  • Open the Opal app
  • Tap on the "Stats" tab

There, you may see how much time you spent on your device last week versus this week, as well as your daily average screen time and "Culprit Apps" (visible if you scroll down).

I want the "Focus Report" on Android to be the same as it is on iOS!

We're currently working on achieving feature parity on the Android version of Opal. Stay tuned on that front!

Please note that your "Focus Report" will only be available on iOS after you've spent at least one full week using Opal. Additionally, please note that our Mac App does not yet have the "Focus Report" functionality.

That's it! For more information on Focus Reports, please head here. If you'd like to learn more about how Opal reports your Screen Time, head here.
